കേരളത്തിന് അനുവദിച്ച വന്ദേഭാരത് എക്‌സ്പ്രസ് സര്‍വീസ് മംഗലുരു വരെ നീട്ടണമെന്നും റെയില്‍ പാളങ്ങളിലെ വളവുകള്‍ നികത്തി ഹൈ- സ്പീഡ് റെയില്‍ കണക്ടിവിറ്റി സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഉറപ്പാക്കണമെന്നും ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് വി.ഡി സതീശന്‍ കേന്ദ്ര റെയില്‍വെ മന്ത്രിക്ക് കത്തയച്ചു.
തിരുവനന്തപുരം മുതല്‍ കണ്ണൂര്‍ വരെ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വന്ദേഭാരത് സര്‍വീസില്‍ കാസര്‍കോടിനെ കൂടി ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തണമെന്നും കണക്ടിവിറ്റി പൂര്‍ണമാകാന്‍ മംഗലുരു വരെ സര്‍വീസ് നീട്ടണമെന്നുമാണ് പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. നിലവിലെ റെയില്‍ പാളങ്ങളുടെ വളവുകള്‍ നികത്തിയും സിഗ്നലിങ് സംവിധാനം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തിയും വന്ദേഭാരതിന് പരമാവധി സ്പീഡില്‍ സര്‍വീസ് നടത്താനുള്ള സൗകര്യം ഒരുക്കണമെന്നും പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

I write to seek the urgent intervention of your good self to extend the proposed Vande Bharath Express in the state of Kerala up to Mangalore station in order to ensure overall high-speed railway connectivity in the state.
All leading media outlets have reported that the Union Government has initiated the necessary steps to introduce the Vande Bharath Express in the state, running from Trivandrum to Kannur. Relying on the media reports, the proposed Vande Bharath train is supposed to run only till Kannur, leaving out the northern district of Kasargod. Please note that Kasargod forms part of the existing railway system in the state and could have been seamlessly incorporated into the existing route of the Vande Bharath Express without much pain. Leaving out the northern district of Kasaragod is considered a grave injustice to the people of Kasaragod.
Kindly note that Kasaragod is a district in Kerala with limited railway access. Constant efforts have been made to improve connectivity in the district, but much more needs to be done to bring it up to par with other districts in the state. The district is close to the neighbouring state of Karnataka, with Mangalore as its nearest station.
Extending the Vande Bharath express to the Mangalore station will improve overall connectivity between the state’s southern and northernmost regions and be of great help for the people of Kasargod.
As you are aware, the railway lines in the state have many curves, which will impede the Vande Bharath Express from running at its maximum speed. To maximise the benefits of high-speed trains in the state, it is imperative to correct high-impact curves that significantly reduce train speed and introduce Automatic Signalling System.
Taking into account the foregoing facts, I respectfully request that you prevail upon the authorities to extend the proposed Vande Bharath express in the state all the way to Mangalore station and take necessary steps to correct high-impact curves.
